Treat training is not as simple as treating your dog for everything. It is important to be aware what moment in time your rewarding, what your dogs energy levels are doing and how the treat is affecting their head space. This video is a super brief understanding into treat training.

Conditioning your dog to the leash and teaching him/ her what you are communicating. A little bit of work for a life tome of easy breezy walking. Your initial walks will not be leisurely strolls. Think of them as training, your focus will be 90% on your dog and 10% on what is coming up ahead. Keeping an eye on your dogs posture, ears, eyes, mouth, notice any changes in energy and where their focus lies to adjust yourself and communicate what is right and what is wrong to your dog.

Leash conditioning, getting a distracted or reactive dogs focus

Its all about patience, consistency and a little bit of work. If you are struggling with a reactive dog that barks on lead, pull it back to basics. Do some leash conditioning work at home. Slowly progress from home to a low distraction environment and build up from there. Don't jump from home to the beach and expect things to be smooth sailing! Take your time, you have around 15 years to get to the beach with your buddy :)

This ONE little step will let you enjoy your dog out and about on and off lead!

An insight into why thresh hold training is important. Making your dog wait at gate-ways, door-ways, hopping in and out of the car this small act on a consistent basis will in fact help the big picture of enjoying your dog out in the world, on and off lead. Don't believe me? I challenge you to 4 weeks of never missing this step, at every instance and interaction with your dog. Remember consistency is key.

Why boundaries and your space are so important when training your leash reactive or guardy dog. How you interact with your dog in the house transcends to how your dog reacts outside in different environments and on lead. Get things right at home and then you can enjoy your dog more out and about. Guarding. Leash reactivity. Bratty behavior. Barking. It all starts in the home.
